La mayoría de los alumnos de necesidades educativas especiales que están matriculados en los I.E.S. tienen una discapacidad psíquica ligera o limite y presentan las siguientes características:

Buena autonomía para el cuidado personal
Desarrollo del lenguaje oral
En ocasiones baja autoestima
Muy vinculado al punto anterior, suele darse falta de iniciativa y dependencia del adulto. Evitan asumir responsabilidades.
La lectura “mecánica” y la grafía son aceptables. Las dificultades las tienen en los procesos de análisis/síntesis de adquisición de la lectoescritura y en la comprensión de textos complejos.

Las adaptaciones curriculares las realizará el profesor de cada área, con el apoyo del Departamento de Orientación y se realizarán tomando como objetivos su nivel de competencia curricular. La evaluación tomará como referencia la consecución de dichos objetivos.
